I'm Diane Horst. Light by Reflection was created in 2011 in an effort to become more organized fulfilling art and design requests. I worked as a high school art teacher and illustrator for a publishing company while getting a growing number of requests on the side. I eventually went on to work solely as a freelance artist from my home.
Imagery is powerful. It has the ability to uplift, comfort, inspire and cause us to reflect on the source--Creator God. Just think—we get to live inside His gallery. We’re allowed to touch the things He made! The invitation to co-create is a gift. I do not create primarily as a means to an end. I create because the process brings soul-level nourishment and gratitude. Perhaps you know this delight too, as you craft a story, knead dough for bread, turn an old root into a wooden bowl, strum a guitar or restore a worn-out piece of furniture. It's a place, unique to every soul, where we are alive and rejuvenated, not because of what we've created but for having created.
Most of my art starts with an idea from people like you. A book, a mural, a portrait, a painting... Every piece has a story. You have a story.
